Mayor and Council Members
All the legislative powers of the Town are vested in the Mayor and Council, which consists of one Mayor and four Council Members. These officers are elected and receive a small stipend. The Mayor and Council Members are responsible for the hiring of the Town Manager, appointment of the Clerk-Treasurer, Town Attorney and all standing Commissions and Committees. Term Ends Sept. 2015 | The Town of Federalsburg holds an election on each odd numbered year. The next Town election will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2013. The officers will be sworn into office at the October, 2013 regular monthly Mayor and Council meeting. The Mayor of Federalsburg is elected at each election, and there are two Council Members elected per election.

Richard F. Colburn is the Town Manager for the Town of Federalsburg. The Town Manager is the Chief Administrator of the Town and is responsible to the Mayor and Council for the administration of all affairs of the Town and supervises all staff. The Town Manager is supported by the following departments:
Town Office / Finance Department
The Town Office staff is responsible for overseeing all the financial responsibilities for Town government, including budget, revenue collection and payroll. The Town Office Staff consists of the following individuals:

These employees handle the daily operations and business of the Town Hall. This includes preparation of the Town budget, accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing for personal property taxes, invoicing for water and sewer bills, collection of water and sewer payments, and many more tasks. Police Department
The Federalsburg Police Department is a full-service municipal law enforcement agency serving the citizens of the Town twenty-four hours a day. The Police Department consists of nine full time employees as listed below:

Public Works Department
The Public Works Department consists of two departments, the Maintenance Department and the Water/Wastewater Department. These departments provide basic services, such as water and sewer maintenance of municipal properties. There are 10 employees in these departments as listed below:

Code Enforcement Department
The Town of Federalsburg Code Enforcement Officer and Zoning Administrator is Jeff Beever. He enforces the Town Zoning Ordinances, Comprehensive Plan, Subdivision Ordinance, and issues all building permits. He also handles all Property Maintenance Violations. First State Inspection Agency from Georgetown, Delaware (302-856-3517) or Middle Department Inspection Agency from Easton, Maryland (410-822-8300) conducts electrical and plumbing inspections for the Town.

Grants Administration
George "Happy" Mayer is the Grants Administrator for the Town of Federalsburg. Happy drafts and submits grants on behalf of the Town, monitors the expenditures of funds, and prepares required reports regarding grant sources to the Town.
Main Street Administrator
George "Happy" Mayer is the Main Street Admimistrator and promotes the Town of Federalsburg and its businesses, activities, parks and events and other involvement; encourages membership in local civic organizations such as, Rotary, and Federalsburg Volunteer Fire Company and the Federalsburg Business and Civic Association; promotes tourism development in the Town; promotes and assists retail and commercial business development, retention and expansion; assists with the Town Revolving Loan Program; updates vacant buildings listing to recruit new businesses and minimize problems associated with unoccupied buildings; encourages historic preservation through the Federalsburg Historical Society, Inc. and encourages property development by sending demographic and other information to developers and land brokers; and assists the Mayor and Council, Town Manager and other Town Employees with items of main street concerns.

Members: Chuck Planner, Jackie Pinckens, Sharon Ewing & DeCraig Gibson. The Commission meets on the last Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m., with the exception of the month of December.

The Mayor and Council of Federalsburg meet on the first Monday of each month at 6:00 P.M. If the first Monday falls on a holiday, the meeting is generally re-scheduled for Tuesday. The Mayor and Council meetings that will be re-scheduled for 2012 are listed below:
